About Justin

Ideas, Designs, Strategies and Software.

I'm an experienced web designer and marketing pro that creates web applications, web sites and strategic marketing plans. I offer consulting to ensure your site fits in with your business' broader strategy, as well as hands-on production tasks like design and front-end development.

Common Questions

I'm thinking about using a web designer (or company) that has worked in my industry before. Why would you be able to help me?
Because I've worked for many kinds of clients, I know that generic solutions don't work for everyone. I place emphasis on understanding your business goals and target market, then making recommendations to meet your specific needs.
How are you a web designer and a marketing person at the same time?
Good question. I've been in lead marketing roles and project management roles but those are simply parallel skill sets. Knowing the entire life cycle - how to research, create a marketing plan and execute the production - allows me to make better decisions from minute one.
So, you do all the work when building a web site?
Almost, and only when it makes sense. I'm not hardcore in back-end development like Cold Fusion, PHP, Ruby, or ASP - but, I know people that are and I utilize them as necessary..
You obviously work with big brands and large businesses. Will you work with small businesses and start-ups?
Sure, I do it all the time.
What if my budget is really small?
Then you will get less, but what you get will be quality. It really depends on your model. The best thing you can do is to create a plan for growth - I can help you with that.
Do you host web sites?
Yes. Though it isn't always the case, I prefer to host the sites I build. My rates are reasonable, too.
I want to be able to update my site myself. I won't have to pay you to change every little thing right?
That's not a problem, but - there might be limits on what can be changed. An initial discovery process will answer those questions.
Do you use Wordpress?
Sometimes. Wordpress or any CMS selection is dependant on the needs of the site.
Do you have experience with bigger content management systems?
Yes. Some enterprise class systems, a couple of custom systems and a couple of open source ones as well. The differences are terminology and architectural philosophy.
What about CRM?
Yes - Zoho, SugarCRM and a couple of custom CRM's.
